Curriculum Partnership Projects
Curriculum Partnership Projects
Do you face challenges teaching your courses which may be assisted by computer-mediated interventions? The Centre for Educational Technology (CET) is interested in working collaboratively with educators who want to develop educational technology curriculum interventions to support specific teaching and learning objectives.
If you have specific ideas for curriculum projects, and would like to work in partnership with us, or if you are interested in the idea, but don’t know enough and would like to know more about the possibilities of using educational technology for specific teaching and learning purposes please contact Glenda Cox
Current Curriculum Partnership Projects
These projects are currently in the develoment phase.

Ultrasonic tutorial
CET worked with Brandon Reed to develop an online tutorial which requires third year Mechanical engineering students to simulate the role of a ship’s engineer. Students are required to find the flaws in the hull of a ship using a virtual oscilloscope; determine the depth, length and orientation of the flaws; and assess whether the flaws are critical i.e. whether the flaw is likely to cause the ship to sink! This gives students insight into the difficulty of finding flaws and the experience of writing an engineer’s report - a very important skill required of qualified engineers.
Dermatology Quiz
CET is working with Professor Gail Todd and Sue Jessop on a tutorial which aims to develop student's ability to make diagnosis of dermatological cases. Students are presented with a patient's history and clinical image. The student is then expected to answer a number of questions which simulates the processes involved in diagnosis.
Gene Mapping Tutorial
CET is working with Laura Roden on a tutorial to develop Molecular Cell Biology students' understanding of genetic recombination and gene linkage.
